GLENDALE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
We, the Glendale Teachers Association, exist to protect and promote the well-being of our members and our students. Through building trust, clear communication, proactive involvement in our schools and community, along with responding to our members’ rights, needs, and concerns, we will serve as the local voice for public education.
LATEST NEWS FROM THE GTA
GTA and GUSD agreed on Aug. 12 to a Tentative Agreement on an MOU relating to all matters we were able to agree upon regarding distance learning. GTA membership recently voted to ratify this MOU. As part of this MOU, GUSD agreed to "regularly solicit feedback . . . about the instsructional program, [and] to use this feedback to regularly evaluate the instructional program, and to negotiate adjustments to video conferencing expectations and instructional schedules."
Members are encouraged to gather quantitative and qualitative data about the current instructional program in order to provide feedback and to give the GTA leadership information when it negotiates adjustments to our current instructional program.
Please share feedback with site reps, as we begin holding Rep Council meetings in September. GTA depends upon its members to serve on committees which inform and support the work we do. If you would like to serve on a committee this school year, please complete this form.
Also, In the spirit of continuing to share GTA member ideas on remote learning / teaching, we invite members to record short FlipGrid videos about what tech they've found useful and would recommend to others. Click here to record a video (GTA2020! is the password). Click here to view the videos. Submissions can be made through Sept. 25 and will posted on our list of remote learning resources.
Finally, we continue to work with our colleagues in CTA to help secure adequate funding for our return to school in the fall, and to help pass Proposition 15, the Schools and Communities First Initiative, which will be on the November ballot.
