Dear Members,
Please see changes to your Health Benefit Plan that will take affect on October 1, 2010.
Glendale Teachers United GTA leadership and the bargaining team support and urge ratification of the TA signed with the District on August 24, 2010.
The entire agreement is on our website. The following is some explanation and figures we have calculated:
The District was unwilling to make health contributions temporary.
Therefore, there is a CAP.
The CAP is $13,547.00 and is increased by 8% annually.
In 2011/12 it will be at $14,630.00 and $15,800.00 in 2012/13, etc.
The GTA Health Benefits Members and GUSD Health Benefit Committee will make every effort to bring all plans below the CAP - We will seek other brokers and insurance companies and believe by doing so, we will be able to meet our objective.
Why we chose the CAP over the Formula in the last TA.
For purposes of demonstration, we will use a teacher making 62,000 annually. Members making less will have a lower salary reduction for furlough days and members making more, a higher deduction for furlough days.
All figures are annual figures so divide by 10 for monthly contributions.
Under the previous TA there were 6 furlough days for the 2010/11 school year. This is $2,000 a year salary reduction.
With the CAP, there are 2 days for the 2010/11 school year but, once the district receives the funding for the Jobs Bill (and is assured the State will not be making more cuts to their budget as a result of the Jobs Bill), the furlough days for 2010/11 will be 0.
So
Formula (the 50% increase is included as the renewal was above 10%) =
